USS Oregon Toys for Tots volunteers contributed to a record year for the local SW Washington/NW Oregon Toys for Tots campaign. Overall, the 2023 campaign saw a more than 54% increase in toy donations, providing more than 35,000 local children with toys – a nearly 13% increase from last year.
The Detachment’s 8 volunteers collected 9,867 toys, 3 bikes and $763.
Nationally, Toys for Tots distributed almost 25 million toys, books, and other gifts to more than 10 million kids in need in 2023 – more than it has over given in its 77-year history, according to MCL National.
Detachment T4T Coordinator Terry Welter noted that although 2023 is in the books, he knows that with the continued support of Detachment volunteers and the continued generosity of supporters, we will provide even more relief and improve the lives of more disadvantaged children in 2024.
