The Iwo Jima flag raising was held Feb. 25 at the flagpole next to the Canby Adult Center, with Chaplain Gary Brannan (red jacket) represent MCL USS Oregon Detachment. Sand from Iwo Jima was sprinkled at the site.
The Maines from the 6th Engineer Support Battalion, including SgtMaj Christopher Lewis did an outstanding job, as did Irene Breshears, who’s been faithfully organizing this event for over 25 years.
